Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
My HR is very fast when in Afib or flutter, always 170 plus and in the 50s and 60s when in NSR.
When my HR falls into the low 50s high 40s , then I get lots of PAC/PVCs, maybe that is what you are experiencing. An EKG could tell for sure.
Since my epi experience in Jan. I go into afib with a heart rate that is lower. 102-116. It still wakes my up with very irregular pounding. I mentioned this lower rate to my EP, and I don't remember if he commented on it.
This Afib experience we have, sure gets perplexing at times!

80-90. I tend to have tachychardia at times. Normally my HR is 60-70
around the house.
I do take a beta-blocker when it goes up to around 150 and does not
come down in 10 minutes or so. It is very scarey. But so far very
controllable. And it has only happened when I started on thyroid meds.
I called my doc after a week of that and told him no more of that kind
of med. It was T3 T4 combined. Found out I can't take T3.
Oh well life goes on.
Am I taking my Cardizem too early, so it's not covering the whole 24 hours? He has increased my dosage, but I haven't begun the medication yet because it's still at the pharmacy. Just have a lot of questions, and can't figure out why it's bothering me emotionally all of a sudden.
You should check with your Doc.
I was diagnosed with asymptomatic bradycardia much before the onset of AF. I believe the bradycardia is what keeps my HR low while in AF.
For AF I've opted for no medication other than warfarin. Aside from Vitamin D that's it. Since discontinuing lisinoprilI I no longer experience lightheadedness in AF. I do become dehydrated and fatigued but not so that it interferes with my daily activities. I self convert though over time the AF irregular heart beats are lasting longer.
When in AF I feel that my heart is trying it's best to achieve NSR. Feeling strongly about something doesn't make it so but in this case for me it helps.
