I usually am cold (especially in the winter ;-)) but it definitely has gotten worse since I started taking beta blockers. But this is a general cold, you know, warm your hands up on a cup of tea, wear socks to bed type of thing.

I usually feel a little nauseous just before and for the first 5 or 10 hours of a-fib (but not to the point of getting ill more of a blah feeling but Ive gotten used to it).

If I get shivering cold (to where I am sitting on my hands to try and keep them from falling off) I probably have a virus (and for me it has nothing to do with if Im in a-fib or not) and if this lasts any amount of time (1 to 2 days) I get myself to the doctors.

I hope for you it was a one-time thing and this evening you will be able to sleep the whole night through with neither a-fib nor chills nor a virus!

Island does this happen EVERY time you have a-fib (even in the summer??). I hope not. When Im really cold (and thats quite often) and not in a-fib (wish that would happen a lot less than it does) I get into the sauna (infrared) to warm me up. But I do not do that if I am in a-fib (as my heart rate would skyrocket!!)

The past couple of weeks, I've been having a lot of skipping around of the heartbeat, but it didn't start up an afib episode yet. I bought an ekg monitor to use and will send a copy to my EP as I'm out of town for a while. However, I haven't had the chills accompanying the afib ever. I did read on one of these boards where a man was having that symptom with his afib. Hewas shaking so much when the ambulance came, they could hardly get a reading he was shaking so much. Hope you feel better, afib is bad enough without chills and nausea.

I was born and raised in a warm climate, so I seem to always be cold when I move too far away from the equator. I'm not sure that has anything to do with my afib though. I also take a pretty high dose of beta blockers, which slows my pulse down. That could contribute to my chills.

I just put on extra clothes and turn up the furnace.

Island, load up on some good C. I take 2000mg twice a day in winter months, and increase to 6000 mg when I feel something coming on. Knock on wood, so far no runs, drips or sniffles. I dont do the shots either and several at work have gotten it even with the Flu shot this year.
Are these "skipped beats" PVC or PACs? Skipped usually means premature I thought?

I've never had chills in my 3 AF episodes I've had in the past. Everyone is different and has different experiences with AF - yes there are commonalities but also lots of differences.

Interesting. I always heat/burn up to a point of serious concern when in AFIB, never cold.

Island Luvr, even if you are on St John or Tortola, you could be cold due to the anxiety caused by AFIB. Anxiety can make you cold AND I would also get cold when in AFIB. And was always anxious when I went into AFIB,. So if you feel dread when you go into AFIB for example, then the cold MY GUESS is caused by worrying about it. Once I went into AFIB on ST Kitts and went out of the beach and drank a rum concoction as I walked around in the water and I converted. I warmed up too. Hang in there!

I start shaking when I'm in afib and I think it's nerves. I shake uncontrollably. Also I'm on a beta blocker that causes symptoms like
Raynaud,s. Cold hands and feet and chill easily.

My hands and feet get cold and I can't warm up no matter what I do. Not anxiety for sure. I thought it was because of the beta blocker. But it happens in the summer as well, not just the winter.

Sorry. Got interrupted with a hard bout of Afib. I later realized that I wasn't on beta blocker. So I wondered if it was the anti-arrhythmic. But, no, I remember getting that way when I wasn't on anti-arrhythmic. I do think our heart rhythms does have an effect on our body temperatures.
