Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Afib 24hrs after ablation called a success

I received my discharge from my EP on Wednesday as I had not had afib for 6 months post ablation. Last night I went into afib. It was for only 3 minutes but Im concerned this classifies my ablation as a failure. Waiting to hear from Dr now. At least I was able to celebrate for 24 hours.

That truly is discouraging!
I've read a few posts here by people who experienced some A Fib after the 6 months mark--- and still considered the ablation a success. Hope you hear from your Dr. soon.

Are you sure it was afib and not flutter or pacs?

My husband had an ablation November of 2012 he had an episode of afib 11 weeks post op. Pacs all the time for the first 12 months. Those have gone away. He had an episode of something flutter? Afib? 6 months ago, it was very mild and he converted on his own. Don't be discouraged i think the ablation minimizes the episodes but it's difficult to cutre.We feel that Chris's ablation was a success. Hope this helps!

PAst the 3 mos mark, I also thought I had afib again, but much shorted like you said. One EP said just so it's less than 30 sec, he's not alarmed.

I happened to have a holtor on when I had one and it ended up to be atrial tachy.

So, things that feel like a fib after the ablation might not be so. If it continues and you are concerned, maybe as for a holtor or an event monitor to catch it when it happens.

it was fast beats followed normal beats for 3 minutes. bought alivecor today so if it happens again Ill catch it
