I think I have mentioned this story before...I go to acupuncture on a regular basis...my acupuncturist had suggested I wait on my ablation and try acupuncture with a top acupuncturist in Boston, who supposedly could relive my afib without surgery...but I had already signed up for the study at Hopkins and wasn't really willing to take a chance on the acupuncture. But I notice that after each treatment my pulse and blood pressure are lower, the pulse as many as 10 beats per minute. So I definitely think it is worth a try.

Here is an interesting new study. I think the key is to find an acupuncturist who knows the correct points to stimulate. Once I find a good acupuncturist, I'm going to show him/her this article...

Have you just laid down in a darkened room, with soft music playing, for 20-30 minutes to see if that has a similar effect on your HR and BP ?

Theoretically, it could be that ... just as easily as the acupuncture.

I'm not particularly skeptical of acupuncture, but ... when I hear stories like yours ... I start "tearing apart the study," so to speak ;-)

Island, Fortunate to have a kid who does this for free. I was her guinea pig during her school. I was also her biggest skeptic. Now, I swear by it. For one of my 3 self conversions, a big deal for me because I had always been out of nsr for days and needed cardio vert, I converted with acu. After 13 hours of massive supplements, no success, I had an hour session. They are pretty much guessing, but needle was in a part of my hand and shoulder when I felt a tingle in my heart. She stopped and looked a bit concerned, asking if I was ok. I said yes it feels like the beats have slowed and trying to correct. Sure enough, down to 83, but still not nsr. She pulled needles and left after an hour. I sat up and within 15 min, back to nsr.....Ive never gone out since.

Island, and yes, we have used it on our 2 horses with good results.
