Hi lala, My afib usually comes on at 3 AM ish. But, it can start anything.

If you are fainting or close to fainting, have pain in chest, dizzy....and I think there is another reason go to ER.

It is not good to have a high heart rate for too long. This is why a PIP is a good thing. If it does not convert you, it will at least bring your HR down.

Bad night last night.....such a bummer, thankful for my xanax to keep me sane.........

Must be the phases of the moon. I bad a bad morning, blood pressure way down and heart pounding, but under 100 BPM (small blessings), but once I get moving a take a hot shower, things pick up. I think I got myself dehydrated, again!

Good day for me, so far...a little spacey 'tho. I think I am still shook up from a bad fall I took earlier in the week. I am at an art class today....no afib to mess me up....:-)

Lala, do your best to try and keep the anxiety down, I took a xanax last night not because of anxiety but they knock me out so I can sleep, you will hopefully reach that point soon.

Thank you for advice on xanax, at first I was afraid of all my meds generic alprazolam being one. When I read on here that it helped some resumed using as needed. I am RX'd .25 alprazolam x 3 a day for panic attack/anxiety and afraid to take with Metoprolol.

I want a reason but finding from people here may just not have a reason, just something to learn to live with. It will be nice to see the specialist Friday.

PIP is pill in the pocket, you take the drug when you need it...listen to your body.

.25 Xanax TID (three times a day) is a lot of Xanax. I'm 230 lbs and when I need it, I break one in half, and I'm good to go that's 1/6th of what you are taking. You may find that .75 mg per day knocks you out.

Yup, PIP...pill in pocket. I take a Beta Blocker....25 mg. Metoprolol when my heart goes astray (afib) I had 1 yr. when I got afib 2x a month...Rather than taking a med. all the time, I take this pill only when I am in afib. It always lowers my HR. When I get afib my HR is 120-140bpm. Within 20 min. of taking this pill my rate drops to 100. I stay in afib for however long, but with a safe lowered rate and less discomforts. When I took Metoprolol everyday, I still got episodes, so I asked to take it as needed. My cardio dr. said no. I got another dr.

I also have Rhythmol, and antiarrhythmic drug, When I take 300 mg. I will come out of afib within 2 hrs. I don't like the way I feel when I take it, and I don 't take it often.

It is a choice of either Metoprolol or Rythmol.

For me this works great. I am 12 weeks NSR right now.

I can easily tell when I am in afib.

That is .25 not 25 and sad to say it is only thing that stops me from having panic attacks daily. At the moment cutting back due to the meds I am on for afib.

1st ER trip put me on 25 mil Metoprolol twice a day 2nd trip 50 mil twice day. My PCP put me on 75 ER
mil once a day. We are also lowering my thyroid meds at the same time. I am hoping PIP will be something I get to do, but at the moment my HB
chronically irregular but stays around 67. Also on Eliquis.

Thanks for info, I have a lot of health issues and have a team just never had a cardiologist on the team. I also have an electrical misfiring in the brain that needs no treatment but now wonder if relared to afib. Will also be seeing a Naturopath.

.25 is what I have too and I also cut in half, instructions are to take one 3 times a day as needed but I don't think I could function............ I only take when really necessary because it can be habit forming and most of time just knowing it is there if I need is enough to help me keep anxiety at bay when it is rough but if I just want to sleep during afib I will take a whole one so I can.

My fear of addiction is bad so I go off for a few days more often than Physc wants me too. In the last 5 years never has a problem with being wiped out til Meoprolol. So down to panic attack only to take them. I am just tired of meds, even tired of Dr's LOL

Lala we are all tired of meds and a few docs. But good for you for hanging in there and being on this forum. Alot of great answers here

Have you tried Natural Calm? It does help and is natural supplement. Someone on here told me about and it does work.

I use natural calm a magnesium spplement, is that what you are referring to?
