Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Well, after a horrible night last night, I decided to go thru with the 2nd ablation sooner than later. I also decided to take everyones advice and go with a different Doctor. I will be having Dr Raul Weiss do the procedure. I spoke with another one of his patients today that pretty much sealed it for me with Dr, Weiss even though my appt. wasn't the smoothest. OSU after care seems a lot better than what I had and they seem more thorough. I will still keep my current doc to have someone locally, that is if he doesn't kick me to the curb as I think he expects to do the 2nd one. The day is April 15th at OSU. When I went up there for my appt, it sure was a busy place. I loved the Valet parking. If the 2nd one doesn't work, I will be done with Ohio docs and have Dr. Natale do the next one.

Sorry to hear the heavy duty A Fib monster bothered you last night. Hope things get better. What heart meds are you taking right now?

Wishing you a flawless ablation with not one single hitch at any point in your recovery. Keep us posted as to how it goes. (I'm especially curious since mine is a week after yours)

Good luck to you Mark! I was wondering how you have been and if you had decided to move forward with ablation #2. I hope this time around does the trick. The success rate percentages are alot higher with the second ablation compared to the first one. We will be thinking of you. Keep us posted and take care, Carrie

Thanks all. I hope going with a different doctor turns out to be the right decision. There is no denying Dr. Weiss's reputation and OSU is one of the top places but still nervous.

Best wishes Mark! I have a friend who is recovering well from his first ablation with Dr. Weiss last month. As you know, I consult with Dr. Weiss this Thursday -- my third opinion. I'm really curious what he has to say, whether to go back to first EP at Cleveland Clinic or give it a roll at OSU.

Which anti-coagulant does he have you on? How is the after care different at OSU?

Keep the worry down. Less stress-induced cortisol in the system the better. When's the last time you took a hot bath?!

Hi Mark,

Most people are initially told to expect 2 ablations so if they only have one they are pleasantly surprised and if they need a second are not disappointed.
