Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Thank you all for your support before my ablation. I was very stressed before I had it. After a 6 hour procedure, I am currently afib free and it feels great. I am very pleased that I was not in pain after the procedure. I have slept a lot over the past few days as I was exhausted after it was done. I am still a bit tired and haven't gone back to my activities yet but I am so happy that I had the ablation. I was told it is a 50/50 chance of holding. The next step if needed would either be a pace maker (my pluse runs low) or another ablation.
I have some limitations of meds that I can take as I have had a quad bypass. I feel blessed to be living in a time when these issues have solutions and the technology is available. The few minutes I was awake in the surgery room, I was stunned with all the technology and instruments.I just pray this holds for me.
I guess while coming out of the anesthisia after they told me I had ice on my incisions, I kept telling everyone that I had a vasectomy! (difficult as I am a woman). One nurse told me I made her day. :)

My ablation on 10/19/11 was successful, but it took nearly 6 weeks to get my strength back----a gradual process.
