Hi Duder, Congrats on the second ablation. I hope this one holds for you. I'm scheduled July 14th for ablation. I suppose I'm most worried about the heart/chest pain afterward. Did you experience any chest discomfort on either of your ablations? Best wishes during the blanking period and far beyond. Sean

Duder, it looks like all systems are set on SUCCESS for you! After my first ablation my EP was optimistic but I didnt have to wait long to realize it wasnt happening for me. I went into a-fib during my second ablation, I was awake during the procedure and asked if they had given me something to induce it, they said, no, I had done that all by myself. They werent able to keep me out of a-fib and when they finished I was still in (I converted about 2 hours later). When the main EP came to visit me (I had 2 EPs the second time) in my room he didnt look happy or seem optimistic and put me on Sotalol (the VERY thing I wanted to avoid by having an ablation).

Be kind to your heart and give it time to get used to the new situation and dont freak out if it does a wobble or two, it looks like you are on the road to success, smile and enjoy it. Keep us up to date on how its going!!

Sean, I didnt experience ANY chest pain or discomfort after either ablation. Im sure your ablation will be a success, too (many people only have to have one!). Dont worry, the 14th will be here and over before you know it. I found the waiting (especially the first time) to be harder than the procedure. Youll do just fine.

Sean, I didn't experience any chest pain with either of my ablations. I will say that cryo was easier on me than RF. The catheters they used for the RF must have been larger - my incisions are bigger this time and more painful - but definitely not the worst injury I ever had.

Immediately after the procedure I had some muscle pain in the area around my ribs, but I'm guessing that was from coughing brought on by the breathing tube. Honestly the worst part about an ablation, physically, is the sore throat from the breathing tube (if they completely sedate you), and the urinary catheter. The rest is a piece of cake.

I've been in NSR since the procedure, but I'm also taking 100mg metoprolol per day and 100mg flecainide per day as well. Hopefully the metoprolol will keep my rate down and the flec will keep me in NSR until my scars completely form.

Congrats Duder...and continued NSR. I'm almost 9 weeks post RF ablation and no AFib so far. All the best!
