Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Just to let you know that Chelation is very popular in the US. It is FDA approved in the US. You just have to find a place near you, which performs the chelation therapy.
Actually, in the US, if you go to almost any natural doctor for afib or any heart problem, chelation is the first option that they offer. I almost got it 12 years ago, but the natural doctor that I went to, was a rip off. He wanted to do all kinds of BS tests for $5 k first and then chelation for another 5 K. So, I was very much turned off by it. I thought that was a fraud.
I always read stories about people with heart ache or other heart conditions that they got chelation and it solved their problem. But, I never came across a trust worthy person like Doug who got the chelation and the results were absolutely great. I always read testimonials from natural doctors about chelation. But, as you know, testimonials can be easily manufactured.
Now, after talking to Doug, I am considering to get chelation for my knee pains. That just might do it based on Doug's experience.
Please Google Chelation Therapy. You will see what I am saying.
I came across Doug's post a while ago and it sounded very exciting to me that actually somebody has gone through it and it has helped with the afib. Doug has been very helpful in answering my questions about chelation. Thanks again Doug :-)
The surprising thing to me was that even chelation can be performed in Canada since it actually started here in the US. So, yes, chelation therapy is very popular in the US.
Also, I am very surprised that most people on this site do NOT know about chelation for heart issues (specially blockage), ouch.
Doug,
Thanks again for sharing your experience with chelation therapy.
Scott
You usually get an IV injection (for half hour or so) once per week. That is what Doug got too. You get the injections for 10 weeks or so and you do a 24-hour urine test to see if you still have high levels of heavy metals like calcium, uranium, cadmium, mercury, and etc. If you do, you have to continue with the injections until your urine test shows that you have gotten rid of all the bad metals. That was the way it was explained to me by the natural doctor and I think that is the way Doug has done it too.
Unfortunately, chelation therapy in the US is NOT covered by the insurance (to my knowledge). But, you might want to check with your health insurance about chelation therapy.
Way back, I was so turned off by my natural doctor pricing and greed that I dropped the idea entirely. I think there is more competition now in the market that may be the price for chelation has dropped. Also, we have to find a good provider who knows what he/she is doing. I like the place that Doug went in Canada. It sounds like a good place to get it done at a reasonable pricing (about $100 per injection).
I will comment more after I listen to the Doug's interview with Travis. I am sure Doug will chime in here too at some point :-)
What Doug did, to address his afib is really out-of-the-box solution and it has paid off big time for Doug. He got rid of his afib and some joint pain. That is fantastic. You can't argue with success :-)
In my opinion, drugs should be used as short term band aids, natural therapies (diet change, chelation, etc) should be used to resolve a health issue if possible, and invasive therapies like ablation should be used as the last and ultimate option. This is just my opinion and I try to go by it for every health issue that I encounter.
Scott
Thanks very much for the great interview with Doug. I liked it very much. It was very informative, thanks.
I am sorry that you could not find a place near you where you can try the chelation therapy. It sounds like a good alternative to try before going for an ablation. I guess it is not as popular in your area.
I hope your up coming ablation goes well and you will be afib free.
Take care,
Scott
Excellent post! I have printed out your article and will read it this evening...both my acupuncturist and naturopathic drug dealer (I go regularly to the Dandelion Herb Shop in Glen Burnie MD to pick up naturopathic stuff...when I see them, I always tell them I am there for my "fix."), and after emailing Doug, I believe I am going to give this a shot. I called the naturopathic doc who does this, but was told to call back tomorrow. I do understand that since he is a "real" doc, that even if insurance doesn't cover this, it would be a tax write off. I wish the naturpathic herbs were also, but sadly, currently you can only write off prescription drugs. Doug and Travis, sounds like you may have started a little DS movement here! I just hope we don't have to move into a compound in the Midwest and sign over all of our worldly possessions to you guys to be part of this group!
Willing to try it Bill
About chelation therapy:
In hindsight, it only makes sense to get the toxins and heavy metals out of your body if you have any that have accumulated over your lifetime (and it seems that most of us have). No wonder we have health problems develop with that going on. Some of the research on heavy metals in the body is downright scary.
I was happy to note all my experience with Travis, so he could publish and share it with his audience, the more people who know about this option the better. Please visit the site at:

Surfrat had a question and it is answered in the article, but here it is again.
Chelation is only to remove heavy metals. It is a slow process, one treatment weekly and it cost me $105 per treatment. It is slow because it removes only a tiny amount of heavy metals through your kidneys each time - but it does remove it. Weekly is recommended so your body heals from where the metal was removed from your circulatory system, heart tissue, bone tissue - wherever it was, and so you don't damage your kidneys also.
It is not something you have to continue taking lifelong, however as it only removes a little at a time, it took 30 treatments to have the best heart benefits for me. I'm up to 35 now as I notice arthritis improvements from every treatment. As long as the arthritis gets better each time, I'll have another. But I do it now every 2 weeks. I foresee stopping for a period of 6 months soon, then trying a chelation/test later to see what metals have come out of deeper levels in my body.
Just yesterday, a naturopath was telling me our bones store a lot of lead, so that makes sense that it can help with arthritis and can take time to totally clear out. I had high levels of lead, cadmium, arsenic with some mercury and others.
In any event, it is another option that I think everyone should be aware of so they can choose for themselves to try or not. That's what this forum is for, I think - to share experiences. I'm finding that many doctors have limited experience so can only give limited advice, whereas there is a lot of experience in this forum that members can draw on.
