Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I posted that I was worried the "blips" might evolve into a fib. Last night I had some irregular beats that went on longer than usual. Usually they resolve after 3-4 beats. I don't know how long this lasted, but it seemed like minutes. I felt dizzy immediately. This was the same sensation I had when I had a fib. My ablation was March of last year. I hope I'm not getting it back... My heart rate went up but only to about 130 when I checked. I could feel it pounding. Surely scared the heck out of me!!

I think one of things that happens for me is when my heart does that I suddenly go into " panic mode " and that can cause the dizziness and accelerated heart rate. It is scary after your ablation to think the afib might be back.

My doc told me to take a slow deep breath when that happens and then slowly blow out through my mouth. It turns out they were pvc's and soon I did learn the difference.

I really hope you are not going into afib again. This was shared just to see if it could help you if it happens again. I do know the panic of thinking afib.

I have had many PVC's and PAC's, multiple ones/hour. It feels different and doesn't last as long. This was decidedly different. but you are right, everything causes panic which accelerates the heart rate and causes dizziness. Vicious cycle!!

Oh Heart2222, Are you OK now? I sure do hope you stay in NSR with NO more blips, flips or flops!

So many on this site say if the ablation works, it is only temporary. I HATE to have that sensation again. Sigh...

........and Heart2222 a lot of folks have had 'so far, so good' permanent NSR!!!! Especially with the second and even third ablation.

Sorry to hear about the events you're having. It's possible that some healing "reconnected" an afib pathway but don't jump to that conclusion quite yet. Even if that was so at least you know what to expect if a second touch up procedure is required. It'll be far shorter than the last and success rates increase in most cases with repeat procedures. I know that I would be very disappointed to start having episodes again after 5 months of NSR but I went into this knowing it might happen. Knowing what to expect and having confidence in your EP is a huge help.
