Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group

Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I just spent the day getting lab work done, and an EKG, which was absolutely perfect. Horray for 4 mo. of being AFib and AFlutter free, and kudos to the great dr. that made this happen for me. I take nothing but metoprolol for it, but I'm doing just great on it. Pulse rate is 65, which is good. I avoid stress like the plague, and sometimes that means avoiding family to be honest. I get out and walk around stores, and get everything done around the house, and I meet friends to have lunches, etc., which I haven't been doing for 2 1/2 years now.

There is nothing better then seeing an EKG that says "normal sinus rhythm"....who would think that could excite me so much.

Petey, I didn't go back to NYC for the ablation. We had a brand new EP come here from Washington State and he had great credentials. He was the most handsome Frenchman I'd ever seen...enough to keep me in A-Fib. He did a wonderful job...truly wonderful. He is very gifted and has lots of experience. He told me he could fix me, and fix me he did. I was leary after the first ablation and the collapsed lung, but this guy is wonderful. His name is Dr. Dacorrette.

Another French guy! Everywhere I look doing my reseach I see the name of Dr Jais (spelling?) from Bordeaux. Can the French really be ahead of us on this? Congrats on the great news! I am having an ablation 2 January with Dr. Calkins at Johns Hopkins...not French, but hopefully a wonderful EP just the same! God bless you!

I found his picture (Marcos, that is) online if you want to blow up the picture and frame it! :-) It sounds like you will be requesting a few extra visits for, ahem, "lab" work. :-))))))))))))) BTW, he is a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society and has all his tickets punched. I am very impressed as you and I would be considered tough cases. Congrats!!!!!

Hi Petey..lol at more visits. He gives me A-flutter to be honest, and the accent is unbelievable. I'm so very happy I put myself in his hands to have this surgery. He is very modest. When I thanked him for all he had done he merely said "I was only the co-pilot, you were the pilot." To me, it was most definitely vice versa. He's just the nicest, most down to earth doctor I've ever met. I even got a high 5 from him. Did I mention he's single....if only I were about 40 years younger. We just got really lucky having him come to Boise, right when I needed a great dr. so badly. I thank God for him every day....and we are hard to fix Petey. He told me that himself. It took many, many hours, but he did the job right.

You are partially right, Petey. His mother is Columbian and his father is French. He grew up in France and speaks French fluently though. His first name is Carlos.
