Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I had an cryo- ablation Oct. 19, 20011 at Santa Rosa Hospital.
5 days later, had a bad A Fib episode and landed in ER. For me, bad episodes mean dizzyness, severe nausea, and trouble breathing. Very painful and scary!
Since then, have had zero A Fib episodes (that I'm aware of) and feel really good.
Had an appt. with EP Dr. Friday. Everything checked out OK.
Mid March I stop taking Multaq, First of April have the 24 hr. monitoring test, then see the EP Dr. 2 weeks later. He'll decide at that appt. if I can stop warfarin and diltizem.
All I can say is so far, so good. Or to quote my husband, he's, "cautiously optimistic. " I've had A Fib for 1 year, and he's been through the worry and hell (the A Fib roller coaster) with me.

So glad you are doing so well, 3 mos post ablation. Hopefully that one episode of AF will be your LAST!! Hope to hear you are off your Multaq and soon off your warfarin. That would be fabulous!!
My 3 month appointment is today and I am expecting that I will be able to get off sotolol. I have not had any side effects from it, but it does drain my energy. I am excited to feel like me. I hope I remember what I felt like before I started taking this medication.

I am six weeks out from cryoablation and have had some problems. Started having pvcs a few days after my procedure and now the afib is back as well. Wearing a holter monitor and waiting to hear the EP recommendations as to what's next.

The cardiologist and the EP both think the pvcs were a transient result of the ablation and should have quit by now?
Having them both together is maddening!
