Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Hello All!!! So surgery went really well. He said my veins were really good so it was easy for him to run the cords through. They did xrays and an EKG this morning and everything was working and looking good. They have a monitor that shows what your heart does on it's own and what the device does for you. I am very shocked on how every pump my heart is dependant on it, to make my heart pump correctly. I loved my doctor and his team, as I entered the room for surgery they were blasting some AC DC and Led Zepplin, and some how I woke up to talking to them about dogs. ( I Have NO Idea how!) When I was wheeled out to my family and friends I was on Rainbows and Unicorns with Fairys everywhere telling them how much FUN it was! WOW, I wished they video recorded it! SO I am now in recovery, with my arm in a sling for 10 days and limit to movement so I don't tear anything. I have been sleeping alot! I just woke up from a six hour nap, and about to return to it!! LOL Thank you guys for everything, and look forward to hearing and talking with all of you!!

Congrats on the successful surgery...so glad it went well! Great pic by the way! You are getting a nice jump on old age...in about 25 years, you will be looking forward to naps as the highlight of your day! Rignt now they are just for recovery, so you can get back out there and do something fun! I hope the rest of your recovery is as fun as this first part has been for you.

It really helps to have a Dr. (and team) that you trust.

I like your positive attitude.
And it's OK to whine and vent once in awhile. We all do that sometimes!

Thank you guys soo much for all the encouraging words of support and love! Well I have to have my arm in a sling for 7-10 days. After that the doc will take off my dressing and make sure everything looks well. I am still down for six weeks, but only to heal better. I have to take medication every six hours, which has helped me do alot of sleep. It also makes me itch and grumpy. LOL so I have been keeping my distance. I had a Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillator installed. So just a bit diff than a ICD, it also helps my heart on every pump to pump insync, along with a defib. Any whoo, you are all pros at this anyway. Just wanted to drop by and say thank you, and to let you know I just been sleeping a bunch! I will check back in after my first check up!
