Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Thanks to everyone who gave me an opinion and help on the Sudafed but now that's off the table and I have a new question, and yes I have a call into the Dr as well. I have a viral sudden hearing loss and the treatment is a Steroid taper for 12 days , have any of you ever been told that we cannot take or should not take Prednisone with our a fib ???? Have you taken it successfully ???? Thanks so much

Whenever I have gotten a steroid shot I go right into afib. So I don't
do steroid shots for anything anymore

When I took only Prednisone, I had no problem. Several different times since afib was diagnosed.

When it was combined with the super duper antibiotic, I had a problem.

I was given Prednisolone for a chest complaint. On the second day I went into AFib and it was very persistent. Spent a night in hospital & really just had to wait it out. I can't drink alcohol or eat more than 2 squares of chocolate either. Everyone is different but I would treat this medication with caution.

I had severe bronchitis and of course could not take any of the usual OTC meds to help with symptoms so they gave me prednisone. I immediately started having more severe and more irregular arrhythmia episodes. Doc sent me to ER where they discovered that as a side effect the pred shot my blood sugar up above 200, and they believed this was triggering my Afib/aflutter increases. They stopped themed and I returned to my usual level of occurrences. So no more prednisone for me.

I have been put on Prednisone 2 times since I was diagnosed with AF and both times my rhythm issues increased. Once before and once after. I am not sure if it was the infections orcthe med.
