Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

My wife had a TEE today. She said it was a piece of cake. Throat is fine and not sore.The doctor said that she had a beautiful heart. I was glad to hear that . The ablation is tomorrow. I will sure be glad to get that over with and get out of New Orleans. I have seen all of the big city life I ever want to see.

So glad the TEE went well. Some have said that was kind of tricky and made them sore. Hope it's a sign that the ablation will go well also.

I found that the TEE was a little uncomfortable so to hear that Weld's wife found it to be a piece of cake was good news. Lets hope that it bodes well for the rest of the ablation. Then you can kiss the city goodbye.

Thinking of you and your wife weld. I am glad the TEE was not too bad and all looked good :)

Terryhf - The TEE is transesophageal echocardiogram. It is an echo on a little camera they put down your throat for an upclose look at your heart from the inside :)

Best wishes for the ablation today.

Clane's explanation of a TEE was right on , the only thing I could add , it is done before an ablation to look mainly for blood clots as well as the structure of the heart. Also some EP's perform it the day of the ablation.
