Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Intended to post this yesterday. Yesterday was 3 months in NSR. YAY! DX 1/15 and 2 episodes after that in Feb. Went on Flecainide the end of Feb and NSR since. It's a great feeling!!!!!

Did your doctor do a nuclear stress test (myocardial perfusion study) and an echocardiogram on you yet? Mine did.

They usually like to do these for patients taking Flecainide to ensure the heart structure is sound. Flecainide's record is much better for structurally-sound hearts, for others with issues, Flecainide can possibly create new arrhythmias.

I had had an ECHO in the hospital and a Stress test in March. Everything is A OK

Great News Cindy !!!! those of us that ride the success of Flecainide ( a very very old anti arrythmic in fact ) are very lucky cause not everyone seems to get the same ride. As time goes on you will get more and more confident in its ability to keep you healthy and in NSR and you will also become comfortable with dealing with an episode and using your Flecainide if one happens. I remember when my Heart Guy started me on F. a LONG time ago , him saying people would poo poo it cause its such an old drug and he loves F. saying you dont argue with success. Being a sodium channel blocker it works differently than some of the other antiarrythmics and for some of us that pathway is the one we needed controlled. WIshing you continued success !!!!!

Wow SamedayRN, you heart guy sounds exactly like mine!!! Right now I feel so good it must be a crime!!! I also think I'm luck because some have complaints of being tired on beta blockers and Flec, but I don't feel any more tired than I have before (been on BB for 11 years for BP). I wish others had my results.
