ok also ever since i went on metrofin for diabetes and amoldipine for blood pressure i have veen getting aankle and leg swollen

Instead of spending money on a portable EKG you might try making a doctor's appointment to see if you are still in afib or not and ask about the ankle and leg swelling. If you are still in afib, the ankle and leg swelling could be an indication of heart failure developing. Regardless of the cause, it is an indication of edema (fluid buildup) and should be evaluated by your doctor. If the swelling in on one leg only it could indicate a possible blood clot. It definately is something that you should see a doctor about.

In the short term you need to do what Denikae says... in the long term, ask for an EKG for your birthday.

I had diabetes and sometimes with the certain foods we eat can cause swelling especially foods that are high is sodium its best to follow a healthy diet and stay away from fried foods and bad carbs and try to stay on healthy veggies and good carbs and lean protein and stay away from processed foods sometimes it can be what you ate Metaformin is a good drug for diabetes and see your doctor but try to eat as healthy as you can it will certainly make a difference

Hi Ray: There is most definitely a link between sleep apnea and afib. No doubt you're having fewer episodes - maybe none. I always tell by feeling my pulse. If it's afib, it is very irregular. Although one could have NSR with premature beats.

Were you in permanent afib? Persistant? or Paroxysmal? Many benefit from Polar watches. This is an afib monitor, but you can see the Polar watches on the right hand column.

For many people (self included), left side lying often triggers afib.

Thanks for the info on the link to the heart watch. I didn't know those existed, but I like the fact you can send the results to your doctor via your phone.

If mine gets worse, I will certainly look into buying one of these.

Hearthrob: How does this $695 machine get worn? On a watch band? It looks kind of big. I would like to see if I am converting to NSR on the treadmill, and the other portable ECGs don't allow that as you stick it against your chest and really can't move. I have the OMRON. The other thing is that I would like to read the strip myself. Is there an indicator that says AFIB or a picture of the ECK? Thanks. -petey
