Asthma Support Group
Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system where the airways narrow, often in response to a "trigger" such as exposure to an allergen, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which respond to bronchodilators.
Welcome to the group! I am sorry to hear of your husbands struggle with asthma and how it affects both of your daily lives.
I have asthma, but I'm not married, but I understand what it's like for people to look at me like I'm lazy, and not understand the profound affect asthma can have on your life.
I imagine it must be very hard for you to have to work and help care for a sick spouse.
There are some very knowledgeable people on this forum, and I think you will find that everyone is very helpful.
I'm glad you found us!

Regarding your dealing with his asthma-I'm sure there are counselors available-you might even check with asthmatic clinics and see if they can point you in the right direction. And regarding your husband being put down by others due to his lack of particaption-sadly unless a person has personally had certain health issue thay can't and don't bother to try to understand it...your husband just needs to do the little tricks of what works for him-doing things in his own way and ignore the idiots
I am a severe persistent asthmatic. I take preventative inhaler daily and watch my peak flows. If things are changing, I talk to y pulmo doc or Primary doc. It can be very difficult day to day to see him struggling :(
I have been married for 25+ years and my asthma suddenly worsened when I turned 40. My husband has voiced similar feelings at times. It stinks! :(
There are many new treatments and inhalers out there so day to day his wheezing should be under better control.
I stick to my plan like glue and do so we can travel ourselves a little now that our kids are older.
You have found a great place to vent.
Hugs,
Carol
Anyways, I’m glad I found this, hope you see this and glad that I’m also not alone!!
