Asthma Support Group
Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system where the airways narrow, often in response to a "trigger" such as exposure to an allergen, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which respond to bronchodilators.
My suspicion is that all these symptoms are being driven by environmental irritants reacting with allergy...which result in chronic sinusitis and bronchial inflammation. Statistically about half of all chronic allergy patients eventually become asthmatic. I often hear whistling noises when I breathe in the morning.
I wish I had an answer for you...or for myself. I can't afford to go bouncing around from specialist to specialist, so I just try to live with it and hope I don't get too seriously ill. It seems to help to run air purifiers and avoid working outside when there is smoke in the air. I also watch my nutrition...eating a lot of fresh greens and avoiding junk foods.
The chest pains have been going on for months now...but I seem to be able to work as I did before all this started. So I hope I'm going to be OK and I hope you get through this too. It's scary when it hurts to breathe deeply.
