Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system where the airways narrow, often in response to a "trigger" such as exposure to an allergen, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which respond to bronchodilators.
For me, I'm thinking I have vocal chord dysfunction but I haven't received this as a diagnosis.
I talk lots when I work and by the end of 4 hours, I sound like a 12 pack a day smoker!!! I'm not a smoker, by the way!
Sad to say but my theory is this "side effect" is it's part of how the medication (or the additives in it) works and will be present to some extent while using it.
Rinsing and gargling might reduce this effect, but not totally eliminate it.
The vocal chords and voice usually return to normal after use is discontinued, if this is possible.
However it's better to breath easy though sounding like Donald Duck.
It has slowly gone away and my voice is back to normal, which may be a result of using the inhaler or it could be using a spacer helped, too.
The other thing I did was not just rinse, but gargle with a little salt water (a tip from another asthmatic).
It did not go away overnight, though, it took some time and quite gradual.
