Asthma Support Group
Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system where the airways narrow, often in response to a "trigger" such as exposure to an allergen, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which respond to bronchodilators.

it is one of the evils of steriods is the side effects that go with them. however i know that i much prefer the side effects from taking the pred to the difficulty breathing when i dont take it.
with regard to the munchies. try and avoid carbs when you get the munchies. sometimes your body will crave carbs like toast and stuff. when i fisrt started on pred i ate toast and marmite till it came out my ears!!!! i now try and eat a low cal cereal bar or a yogurt or something. i also make a lot of smoothies which are really good at filling a hole when your hungry and also they are quite healthy.
with regard to the weight you put on from pred. it is not actually fat other than fromt he food you eat. the increase in weight is mainkly due to fluid retention. pred makes you retain fluid. that is why you may get weight gain in odd places such as around your knees or ankles also in your face. i have a moon face but my neck is quite slim and i dont have a double chin. it is very strange.
if you want any recipes or anything for thigns toi make when you egt the pred munchies jsut message me and i can give you some of mine.

i noticed that i put on weight after starting asthma medication. i now pay very careful attention to what i eat because it all happened without me noticing it at first. for example now, i have bought an enormous bag of carrots and i allow myself to eat as many carrots as i want. it is so tempting to eat biscuits all day long!
