Asthma Support Group
Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system where the airways narrow, often in response to a "trigger" such as exposure to an allergen, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which respond to bronchodilators.
My asthma has been awful since May 12th either due to my allergies, sinuses, a cold or all three at once! I finally went to the doctor who changed my asthma action plan as the old one was made in 2012 with the asthma educator. I'm to take more of my inhalers especially symbicort. I can take ventolin every hour if needed. I won't do that though because it makes me too shaky if I take too much and my hear races. I only get saline in my nebulizer because my doctors say inhalers are enough. I also take expectorant syrup(guaifenesin). We're doing this so I can attempt to stay off of prednisone. I aslo have a retracted(sucked inside) eardrum in my right ear which is painful. My asthma/ allergy medications are avamys steroid nasal spray, reactine prescription strength(20mg), singulair, ventolin, symbicort, and alvesco. I was woken up at 7:30am by my asthma. My chest is too tight and sore to go back to sleep. I have to wait an hour after taking alendronate to take other medications(reactine, singulair) and others. It's frustrating that my pulmonologist/respirologist will only see me once a year. I hope the new asthma action plan works because I really don't want to have to go on prednisone. I already have osteoporosis from hyperparathyroidism.
