Dose counters on inhalers

I have a new inhaler and it has a dose counter on it. Each time I click it for an inhalation, it deducts it and shows how many doses are left. What a simple but brilliant idea.

Instead of trying to remember to record each usage yourself (and sometimes forgetting) the inhaler equipped with this device does it for you.

With the inhalers with the new propellant the old float test is no longer accurate and may not have been all that accurate to begin with.

I hope all inhalers will be so equipped soon. It takes out the guess work and keeps us safer.

That's great! Which inhaler are you using?

I use Maxair. I asked them about it before and they said they had no plans to put in a counter. Then they went on to explain the float test.

A counter would make it so much easier.

Yeah, My symbicort inhaler has a dose counter. I think this is a brill idea.

With preventers it is not too difficutlt to count dose but with relievers it is very hard. I tried keeping a tally but gave up as it was too complicated.

I do know that you can get special cases which hold you inhaler and also have a counter on but I'm not sure if there available in the UK.

I think it is very stupid that they dont have counters as if there is no drug left in the inhaler especially if it apears there is it could be potentialy fatal.

The one that I am using that has the counter is Ventolin HFA. I didn't mention it before because I didn't want to seem as if I'm pushing Ventolin. I just really liked the counter. Don't know if it's available on other rescue inhalers. I hope so.

My Flovent has a counter and I think its a great idea also. Its nice knowing when u are getting close to empty instead of guessing.

My fiance's son's albuterol has that counter on it... I think its great!

it is really usful having a counter on the ihlaer. i find that even after years and years of using inhalers i still find it difficult to tell when the inhlaer if run out as oftne the propellant masks the empty feeling if the inhaler.

i ahve a few with counters but then still ahve some without counters!!

The only med I have with a counter is Serevent.
I will ask my RX place if I can get counters on my inhalers.
