This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which respond to bronchodilators.

I have mild asthma. My allergies are getting the best of me again this season. My dr. wants to put me on singulair but I have heard so many bad things about it. That it causes mood swings, nightmares, and other stuff. Is is good for allergies?!?! He said it's good for EIA as well. I just hate adding something else to what I'm taking. My asthma has stayed pretty much under control. I'm on Alvesco. Strange how I didn't have any flareups the entire winter season and then spring hits and I'm going crazy. One would think that using your steroid everyday for years would keep most things away. Sometimes I don't understand that one. I use my neb once a day before I exercise. Other than that I never have to use it. I sometimes get afraid that by using it everyday my lungs will get use to and eventually it will stop working. As you see my mind wonders about things alot. Anyway, all reponses are so appreciated. If you think singulair is a good allergy med as well as helping with asthma please let me know. The bottle is just sitting there but i'm afraid to take it.

I've been taking singulair for a long time and have no problems with it. It really helps keep my asthma under control. I have lots of allergies too. My allergies are all year long. I also take symbicort. My asthma is under control unless I get a cold or my allergies are really bad. I use avamys nasal spray and reactine for allergies. I use albuterol/ventolin as my rescue inhaler. I have nebulizer if I get lots of congestion with my allergies or a cold/infection.

I'd heard horrible things about it before I took it but it's always done me good. Some people, however swear that it was the worst thing they ever took when to me it's been a great thing that made a big difference with my other medications. Singulair is something I first took when I was a teenager and it's always done me good for my breathing. I think it's used as a supplement with your other asthma medications though, to help them work optimally. It really makes a difference when you do this. It's not a steroid so it doesn't have the extra negative effects they have. I'm allergic to all the steroid products I've tried so this is something I can't live without with my other medicines.

I have been on singulair for over 8 years and it does help breathing. I do want to point out though - at one time I stopped taking it for a few months and I noticed a marked improvement in my everyday mood - so it did depress me very slightly without me noticing. I went back on it because the benefits taking it were better.

I have been on Singulair for about a decade now. I love it. I am not sure if it causes side effects or not (meaning I don't know if what issues I have are due to the Singulair or other). Either way it has been a game changer and it helps a ton. I can't be without it or I am very wheezy.

I have horrible allergies, so I still have to take an over the counter med and I get allergy shots. And Singulair takes care of a big chunk of the allergic asthma.

I've been on it about 10 years and I don't notice it working less, but the same. I think it takes a bit of time for it to get into your system, maybe a couple of days or so? I can't remember that far back.

I have also been on singulair for a long time. I've tried to quit a couple of times, only because I'd like to cut down on some of the meds that I take and thought maybe I could cut that one but I could tell a difference in my breathing. Seems like I'm always trying to cut it out at a bad time. Away, I haven't noticed any side effects. I haven't even looked up side effects for it. Guess I'd better not.

I've been on Singulair for 8 years with no problems. I like that Singulair because it prevents a reaction at a deep cellular level.

My antihistimine meds neutralize the histamine that is produced after my allergic reaction.

Hi, I've been taking this med for five years now, it's the only way I can keep my airways open at night. I've never noticed any side affects, I think it is a wonderful drug.. I am allergic to ventolin , but I have no problems with singular .
