Asthma Support Group
Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system where the airways narrow, often in response to a "trigger" such as exposure to an allergen, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which respond to bronchodilators.
I often get choked by post-nasal drip. I decided to try keeping my nose really clean and conditioned, blowing it whenever it seemed runny or the drip makes me choke, taking decongestant (Sudafed) whenever needed for stuffyness and before entering any dusty or smoky areas, and using sterile saline when it feels dry.
Since then, I only have problems with the chemicals, like cleaning solutions and air fresheners. My asthma tends to kick in after hard exercise, so I am careful about overdoing it, especially when it is cold and dry outside. A warm, steamy shower always brings it back under control. I hope you find something that works as well for you.
