When someone else is flat out wrong!

I'm dealing with a situation where a superior at my work made a transfer decision about me based on purely wrong information. In the end I have to leave the company over it, (so yeah, it's hitting a sensitive emotional spot, and they won't fire me I have to quit so no unemployment).

This person was flat out wrong, refuses to listen to me and tells me that I'm the one who's mistaken. Bottom line, I have to live with her decision and I'm not handling it well.

How do you all deal with this type of situation?

Whoever this person is, she sounds like a great big narcissist with a short girl's complex. Cannot admit when she is wrong and cannot admit her own mistakes. Did you already leave the company? I would have seen about contacting Human Resources to intervene and get to the bottom of who was wrong in the first place. If you are going to file for unemployment and they refuse to help you, I would most definitely appeal with this story. Nobody should have to lose their job over some prideful person who can't handle admitting when they are wrong. I have never heard of this kind of thing done in a workplace; it sounds like she just didn't like you and tried her damnedest to get you to leave your job.

I can't see how someone can force you to quit. Just don't quit. This is your livelihood, something funky is going on, you may want to consult an attorney. Sometimes just the threat of a lawsuit is enough to get treated better.

I'm sure there is more to this story than you have told us, so I hope my suggestion applies. It must be tough.

How would I handle it? When younger, I'd probably cave. Now, I'd contest it. You'd be amazed how bringing a grievance (even without a lawyer) makes people realize they can't bully you.
