I have, at times, toyed with people in order to produce some kind of negative affect in them. I did this because I was curious. But even as I did it, I didn't like doing it; almost as if I were attempting to stimulate my emotions in some sort of psychic self-harm.
It sounds narcissistic, but I would think a narcissist would not care if they hurt people or not, whereas I do. I don't want to be known as someone like that, and I hate the wealth of conflation of AS with psychopathy that already abounds.
Has anyone else done this? Am I a closet sociopath?
I hope not. I've known them before...I don;t want to be like them.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

I think that may automatically disqualify you from being a sociopath.
I know that, sometimes, when I don't know how to ask a question, or if I know asking the question is inappropriate, I'll dos something else to elicit a response from someone that will answer my question about them; like "you know one time this person did THIS--what do you think about that?"
Is that manipulation?
I felt for a long time that I had no clue as to how other people feel or would feel about what I may or may not say, or might have said.
I felt like a metaphorical child in a bubble, where it seemed like most people were outside my bubble, and I had no way of understanding anything about anyone unless it was very well expressed, preferably in writing. I knew more about fictional characters than real life people--the exception being family that I lived with.
I always loved people, though, and still think of myself as 'inwardly an extrovert.' When I went to college, it felt like my eyes were suddenly being opened to an understanding of other people as I got to know my roommates.
Finally, another miracle happened, and I got married and had children, all of which helped me transform somewhat. I attribute that, in part, to having a very kind and loving husband.
