Please pray for my 13 year old son Josh. He is an aspie child with only one friend and this friend has been out of town for the past three weeks.
I had no idea how sad Josh was until he broke down in tears yesterday and said he felt like killing himself because the kids his age won't be friends with him. I've been crying off and on about this. I had no idea he felt like this. We talk a lot and he always knows that I'm here for him, but now I feel like I have failed him. I also have depression so I tend to blame myself for everything anyway. Any prayers and/or supportive feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

I'm very sorry to hear about your and your son's pain. It gets better.
Thoughts of suicide are not unusual - among all people and adolescents especially - and they can certainly be overcome and the person who has them can have a happy, fulfilling life. They are also serious, however, so I strongly recommend getting professional help immediately.
I wanted get my recommendation to go to a doctor in quickly because of the situation you described, but I also wanted to add some personal thoughts that might help...
You said of your son that "the kids his age won't be friends with him," but it's very important to remember that he *does* have a friend. The separation feelings he's having now are signs of the importance of this relationship, as tough as the separation feels now.
Another thing to keep in mind is that social dynamics will change a lot as Josh gets older. Other 13-year-olds are unlikely to be able to see through a person's superficial differences to appreciate his unique and wonderful qualities. Over time, this will improve. In discussing this idea with Josh, I'd recommend being careful not to trivialize his feelings. When I was young and told my dad about feeling anxiety, he laughed and said, "What do you have to be worried about?" This made me feel dismissed and misunderstood, and it put up a barrier to communication between us.
But I think you can recognize the seriousness of Josh's feelings while also helping him to put them in perspective.
Please keep us up to date on how things are going. Dealing with Asperger's, like dealing with all of life's challenges, is a long and constant effort. Sites like this are here to help.
hope that helped some

I am sorry to hear this. But I think this is the age when they really notice the difference between them and their peers. They are teenagers and so much is shifting from being a child and going to a teenager with hormones. A change not only in a peer group but a change in the mind and that is a change where they are different at anyhow.
I'm glad to hear that you have someone in your family that can help. That is great. :)
