My aspie daughter is ODD and WE LOVE her ODDNESS. We embrace her ODDNESS. We do become frustrated at time because we want to hold her and she does not want this but we deal. She tries to act so grown up but she at times acts as if she is two. We have learned to accept this. Since learning that she is aspie she has made great strides herslef to become more how can I put it. Part of US. Part of our family. Before she locked herslef in her room. Now she knows and she is working to be part of us. She still has times when she gets to where she cannot take it and we understand and let her go. She has one friend and he has been comming around more often and she lets him. before she pushed him away. Mind you this friend is the only one she has and he has been around for 5 years. She cannot make new ones. She does not get along with authority at school. All of them are out to get her. Except for the cafateria workers and janitors. They have befriended her as they do not have authority over her. WE continue to work on these issues but have trouble with the hygiene issues. Last night at her birthday party her friend brought her a bath set for girls you know the one. Strawberry scented bath soaps gels and bath fizzies....... she loved it. We also got her some things like this and she got a gift cert. to get her hair done(highlights) and we hope that this gives her the motivation to start taking the steps she needs to take care of that part of her. She is a VERY beautiful girl. You know the classic very natural skinny blonde with the creamy skin that tans to a california beach bunny tan. My friend says she looks like Sports illustrated swimsuit model Molly Sims. i hope that some day she can overcome the this part of Asperger's.
