Hello everyone. I could really use your help.
I am a film director gearing up for my next feature which deals with adult autism and Asperger's Syndrome. I have chosen a woman who has autism to play one of the key leading roles in the film. Needless to say, many different opinions floating around in the autism community, as a result.
The biggest challenge in getting a feature film done that deals with autism is convincing executives and financiers in Hollywood that this kind of a film really matters. I get a lot of "oh, no one wants to see a movie about autism", or "using a persona with autism is too risky, and no one cares if the actor is autistic, just that they are a star". I feel so very different about that.
So, I recently made a documentary series called "RETURN TO AUTISM". It is an attempt to dig into those important challenging questions in hopes that the community will speak out on the film's behalf.
It goes without saying, the more positive responses and rankings posted to youtube, the more likely producers in Hollywood will realize the importance of the film...so...thank you, thank you,, thank you for posting a comment, and I hope you can pass the information along to others who might be as kind.

Why are you so interested in doing a movie on Autism/Asperger? Do you find these disorders interesting? If so, what makes these disorders interesting to you?
I find the point that you want to use a person who is autistic as a major role in the movie interesting. But you do know that each of us are individual with the disorder we have? We are not carbon copies of each other.
I think it's very nice of you to want to make a movie about this. I hope all goes well for you.
