Hi :) Just wondering..as I've perused these forums..there seems to be several members who are involved in relationships..whether both partners are on the spectrum, or one is NT. I'd like to ask..how it all started? A chance meeting in person somewhere? Did one of you contact the other online? On a dating/penpal site?
I don't wish to sound as though I'm desperate in my desire to hop onboard the love train (if it ever leaves the station lol). I've had fleeting tastes of romance in the past, and yes, many have originated via cyberspace. Being "unattached" most of my life..well, undoubtedly it's in no small part due to my AS related issues. For all the downsides to this..I do strongly believe I have many positives to offer...and overall alot of love to give to someone, who not only accepts what I have, but embraces it.
Any feedback would be welcome, thank you :)

My wife I met here on DS in the widows and widowers board - because we both lost our partners.

My previous 2nd wife I met online in a virtual world - something like 2nd life.

Apart from the online aspect it is also worth mentioning that I wasn't there looking for a partner. It just happened.

Hello heartsong69, I'm sorry for your recent loss. I lost both my parents in my mid-twenties, so I can sympathize with your loneliness. At least you've got your brothers around.

The radius of the locator had to expand to 100 miles, where it pulled up 3 Clubs.
You might also look into churches in your area. I don't know if you are affiliated with a particular denomination, but some of the evangelical Mega-churches have up to a thousand members!

Met my boyfriend at church. He seemed to take great interest in me and was showing up every where I showed up, spent a lot of time with me, talked on the phone with me alot and gave me a lot of emotional support. Do you go to any religious institution?

I have attended church, and actually did some volunteering at one..and if there were any potential prospects, they'd have to make the first move. I bet I'd crash and burn if I somehow mustered up the nerve. But I haven't gone often enough anyway

my boyfriend and I met through match.com many months ago he is well on the spectrum and though it has its difficulties I believe there are people out there Willing to look past it like myself....I mean my God he is so attentive being that he self taught human emotions...studied people so many years to learn how to interact its as if he is a professional human being....keep holding out u will find that one (Eric said match was nice because he was open about as from start so people knew what they were getting into)

I met my now husband at work - I found him funny, witty, and honest - sometimes too honest, but it worked for me. We didn't even know he had Asperger's until a few years into the marriage, he was diagnosed as an adult and went in to the psychiatrist because he felt depressed - they ran tests and that is what they found. It explained a lot of things, but really made no difference in how we lived our lives except he was more aware and could work on a few things. My love for him has only grown, and we have been married for 9 years. I am an NT (I think). I do love and embrace his AS, it makes him amazing and I couldn't imagine him any other way than just as he is! Don't give up!

    I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort.     Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner.  I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings.  But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!
