My daughter is 14 and was diagnosised with ADHD at 6. Since then she was on more meds then I can count and now worked. She is non medicated now. We have an apt with a neurologist the end of this month to see if she possibly has it. Her social circle is almost nothing, 2 boys and maybe a gal she talks to in school. She struggles with social cues and displaying appropriate teenage behaviors. She has always found comfort in playing with younger children. She doesn't care what she looks like and what people think of her. She's always been good in school although struggling this year. She gravitates towards certain concepts from time to time. Greek methology - for a time she dismissed God and said these are my God's. I think she states she doesn't believe anymore because we came down on her so hard about it. At times when she gets excited she will flap her hands or make strange noises, not all the time though. She is like my odd little duck, doesn't really fit in anywhere. Always finds the need to touch people even when not wanted (lack social cue reading). My husband gets frustrated with her all the time and we are at odds with each other. He doesn't understand why she just can't seem to get it. She doesn't act like a teenager at all he feels. What others things could we look for that perhaps I have not addressed? I am not looking for a label, I just want to understand her and how to help her to succeed in life.

Please get her properly assessed by an appropriate professional.

We may have knowledge of Asperger's and tell you - yes that sounds like it. But few of us have experience of a bunch of other disorders that look like Asperger's, schizoidal, schizotypal personality disorders etc.

I'm a teenage girl with Asperger's, so people can come talk to me as well with information on how they think and feel.

losthope99, yes your daughter does sound like she may have Asperger's but like acuriousfish said above, you should see a professional to get properly tested.

I sent a personal message as well. She is correct you should consult a professional to be sure. But that does sound a lot like me growing up, I can relate to her. I also have bipolar accompanied with my asperger's.

I'm 20, Aspie, also trying new things I never was able to do like cook. i am in my third semester of online schooling, since my antisocialness, would make me horrible at a regular college. Also, i am diagnosed with a mood disorder as well, it's almost like bipolar. so being with people I hate mostly would not go well with my moods.
