My 10-year-old son resorts to behaving like a baby when he is having internal issues. I am not sure if it is overstimulation, or not enough when he does this. He will talk with a baby voice and and curl up and flap his hands playfully like a baby. He has done this since he turned 6. We used to think he did it for attention because he thought it was cute. We see now that it is one of his quirks or stims. Ignoring it does not help, he seems to get some internal payback when he does it. How can we help him to stop doing this? It is very disturbing and annoying to others and causes other kids to make fun of him. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of behavior?

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

best thing I can state here is he will eventually learn that he doesnt like that hes made fun of and figure out something else to get that out , tho if I remember right you will want to try and curb that before jr high , thats brutal even for the stongest of kids , if I can be any more of a help just home page message me ,, :)

The baby voice thing I think is a more general child thing.
I think you need to discuss this with your doctor or consellor - I think it is more about understanding what is making him overloaded and helping him to develop strategies to deal with it in ways that will make him less a target of scorn, annoyance and bullying in future.
Presuambly he will get some kind of support when he goes to school?
