personally I really dont get why they went and did asd , aspies are a differant breed all together, but I do think that books will still be put out that are based around this since its what people know for a name

I think the name will persist.

I can understand when you look at the multiplicity of mental illnesses and disorders why it makes sense to add Aspergers to Autism and call the whole thing a spectrum because in the real world people don't perfectly fit the descriptions. There seems in particular to be a wide range of people labelled "autistic" from the virtually catatonic to those that would be regarded as Aspergers if only they had not shown a slight delay in language when young - which then is not visible as an adult.

But I'm sure that the old labels will stick and books will still be written.

I am not diagnosed with ASD or Asperger's, but I find it much simpler to think of myself as autistic. I think the "spectrum" from ASD is really related to native intelligence which helps us cope with the Autism, and puts Asperger's Syndrome at the high end of "functioning." Maybe, they will eventually change the whole way they look at this disorder.
