Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction.
I joined this group because I had arthritis in my left knee that had calcified. It was found during an operation to repair a meniscus tear that was found to be crystalized. Both were ground away. But now, I have developed a severe weakness in my right hand. I cannot move the fingers individually, the thumb will not go to a normal open position and I cannot open the hand fully and if any pressure, no matter how little. Is this a form of arthritis?
Do you have pain too? or is weakness alone? arthritis in the hand, fingers and thumb certainly can restrict movement because of pain and stiffness and there can be weakness and grip strength can be effected. I have arthritis in my hands. I am not sure if you have the weakness alone what that may indicate. are you meaning weakness as in not having a good grip strength? or are you meaning stiffness where the joints aren't able to move smoothly and fluidly?
I would get it checked out either way because it doesn't sound right.
I am sorry that you are having this problem and your knee too.
