Do you have pain too? or is weakness alone? arthritis in the hand, fingers and thumb certainly can restrict movement because of pain and stiffness and there can be weakness and grip strength can be effected. I have arthritis in my hands. I am not sure if you have the weakness alone what that may indicate. are you meaning weakness as in not having a good grip strength? or are you meaning stiffness where the joints aren't able to move smoothly and fluidly?
I would get it checked out either way because it doesn't sound right.
I am sorry that you are having this problem and your knee too.
