I am a 58 year old woman who has arthritis, I have had two neck surgeries two shots in one knee,, having a lot of pain in my thumb area on my right hand with swelling hoping that it's just going to be a cortisone shot and I'll be good to go. I have been told that I have DDD, which I know that I do I'm just wondering cuz it just keep going on and on like what is going to happen next. what's going to hurt me next when do you just throw in the towel I am so frustrated with this I don't even know what to do I work, I love my job, but it's getting very hard because my job is very physical and of course I need my hands. Does anyone else have this type of pain and if so what did they do for you I'm just hoping like I said for just a cortisone shot I don't know what else they can do. It's been hurting me for several months it's just gotten really worse in the last two weeks especially with the swelling. Really hurts when I do my job. Any advice is appreciated thank you all so very much.

I too am no stranger to pain. I have over7 pinch nerves. My body is full of arthritis. I go Tuesday about my knee . I'm hoping I am a candidate for those chicken shots . Hang in there. I hope you find some relief from all that pain.

I have arthritis in the base of my thumbs. Have had several cortisone shots and now the doctor has told me to start thinking about surgery. I met a girl on the weekend who had the surgery and she said it worked out great. I can control my pain by controlling my diet - no salt, sugar, wheat (or at least only eat them every 4 or 5 days). I still have some pain depending on what I'm doing with my hands but at least I don't have to take my anti-inflammatories every day. My only problem is that I don't have a lot of self-control so I end up eating what I shouldn't and the cycle begins all over again.
