I look at the good things I have going on as much as I can.
It's learning to accept and do my best with what I have.
Arthritis OA and RA and fibromyalgia have proven to be challenging conditions to live with over the years. It changed my life considerably but somehow I can still find humor and things that I enjoy to look at or listen to. simple things I've always enjoyed so maybe it's just part of my personality. I like nature and can find watching birds and squirrel funny to watch.
I love my dog, she's a good incentive for me to keep moving despite the pain and fatigue.
I am fortunate to have a loving spouse and sons and grandson and maybe these things help to keep me looking at positive.
If I were entirely alone I'm sure It would be far more difficult for me.
As getting out and about and social things is something I do not do much of because of pain and fatigue and I lack friendships because of this.
I also think tomorrow may have something good to offer, something better and I don't want to miss out on it.
I have suffered with depression in past and I know how easily we can slip down that road when dealing with pain and health issues but life is not over and we can do this. It may not be what we had imagined for ourselves and what we had planned but life does go on.
Take One day at a time.
Find something to smile about each day.
Art, music, family, animals, Comedy tv, movies...
Things like that.
I wasn't sure if what I shared in my above post is what you were looking for but that's how I deal with my life. It's not always easy.
It may take time to adjust to your new diagnosis. You may find yourself doing online research and learning more about it.
Try not to overload with all the information.
Just do a bit at a time.
Maybe Join a psoriatic arthritis group too. There maybe helpful info to help you cope with the condition.
I hope whatever treatment your doctor has you started on I hope it helps control the disease and you feel better. Improve.
Take care
I wanted to clarify that I've been dealing with this for over two decades.
Believe me I didn't get to the stages I describe above overnight.
I've shed many tears and been through many emotions.
Anger, frustration, guilt,
It's been a journey. And I still get scared and worry about my future I just can't do much about it.
And so all what I described are my coping skills.
I hope that helps to explain.
I Didn't want you to think I have it all together and I'm this happy positive person because no, it's not been like that.
It's been a lot of mental gymnastics to adapt and accept and deal.
I still get frustrated and mad sometimes. I still cry.
It's natural to do so but overall I am having some kind of life which is enjoyable more rather than miserable and much of it is to do with attitude adjustment on my part.
Ok this is my last post in a row.
Lol
