I have arthritis in my hands, among several other places. The knuckles on both hands on my middle finger have knots on them and swell and hurt. The nails on both these fingers are slightly discolored,. Not really yellow, just not as white as the others. I've scrubbed, bleached and everything else I know to do but nothing changes. They don't seem to have a fungus. They are healthy except for the discoloration. Does that have anything to do with arthritis. Of course that's the least of my worries concerning this disease, but just curious to know if anyone else has experience this.

Hi Jewl12. I have Osteoarthritis and don't have that problem with my nails. However, there are many types of arthritis and all have specific symptoms. If I were you I would mention this to your doctor, next visit. There are multiple symptoms of dreaded arthritis and every person can be different. Sorry I don't have any suggestions to whiten them. Maybe ask a nail technician if they have any ideas. Good Luck.

Thanks oceangypsy. I was at the doctor a couple of weeks ago but we were concentrating more on my feet and I forgot to ask about that. I did show him my knuckles but I didn't even think to mention the color of my nails. It's such a minor thing compared to everything else anyway especially when everything is hurting, hands, feet, back . He tells me my arthritis is osteoarthritis. And I don't complain as much as I could. I went to get refills for my prescriptions. I know if I really told him how bad I hurt, he'd send me for an MRI and I just can't afford it. I'm trying my best to wait till March till I will be on Medicare. I have insurance, but I have a $2500.00 deductable. My employer had me help her move two china cabinets Saturday and I was afraid I would't be able to get out of bed this morning but surprisingly, It wasn't too bad. I hate to complain to her because I need my job and that's just part of it.. My doctor offered to give me something for pain but I declined. I really don't want to take more than I have to. I take Celebrex and I also take Plaquniel for the stiffness. I also have Sjogrens. So far I can take Tylenol Arthritis with the Celebrex from time to time if I need something extra for pain. My mom had Osteoarthritis and ended up in a scooter chair. That's my fear.
