In that time I was on drug after drug... Tried many things to treat it.
Etc.
I have done reading and researching over the years. I think perhaps there maybe a way to reduce the chance of getting it by keeping your immune system strong and keep your life in Balance.
When I got struck with RA my life at that time was very out of balance, I was under high stress, I was moving, i suffer with anxiety, i was not handling it very well, wasn't eating healthily, I had a baby a few months prior. And i just wasn't taking care of myself. I believe my immune system was low and it opened the doorway.
I feel that RA may like a stressful, unhealthy body to set up house in.
So if you can keep stress levels low, find ways to relax, be calm. Eat a balanced diet. Don't overload on sugar and processed foods and include omega 3,s in diet. Consume immune boosting foods. Natural fruits and veggies.
I feel it will lower the risk of getting RA.
In other cultures and medicine such as Ayurveda medicine. Illness, disease begins in the gut, the digestive system.
To strengthen the digestive system change unhealthy eating habits.
Consume whole foods, plant based foods, fruits, veggies. These have live enzymes that we need.
Consume healthy fats, fish, avocados, omega 3's.
consume natural plain yoghurt with active live cultures. Or take probiotics. They help to keep a healthy gut.
If you have taken antibiotics in your life it is always good to replace the healthy flora in the gut by consuming healthy bacteria such as acidophilus and other healthy bacteria which can be found in yogurt or you can get probiotic supplements.
Also if you are currently showing slight signs and having pain. Consider eliminating gluten from your diet too. See if that helps improve your symptoms.
You can find info on gluten and arthritis. Do a search on it.
Don't worry about family history and hereditary. It doesn't mean you are destined to get the same thing.
Get pro active and make some healthy changes and you may save yourself the misery.
Good luck
Now I am set free from all the pain. Totally pain free. No Meds. Just go gluten free. Try it for 2 weeks. you will feel the difference. NO meds, no pills. Just watch your diet. Eliminate all gluten grains, wheat, rye and barley. That means no bread, no biscuits, no wheat cereals. no wheat flour, no crumbs, no cakes, no soya sauce.
Grains intolerance makes your joints inflame. Take Care. Maxi
RA can run in families...i have had it since teens...and lived a very normal life with lots of help from my doctors. yes as i am getting older it is harder but most important thing i can say to keep it away is to keep moving.
i wish you luck...and try not worry...you might ask for gene test if you are extremely stressed about it..but nothing you can do to stop if if it positive. creaking joints do not mean it .
Please try to relax...if you find you are really very worried...talk to counselor about it plus your doctor...they should help you to realize that stressing is not doing you any good.
BUT i do understand why you are worried....i even back packed and i have it severely in my feet and joints in my legs...so see...with right doctors..you can have decent life with it even if it more than mild case! good luck to you
