I think that art is very important, especially as a way of healing, no matter what from. So I think it's good to be aware of the benfits of Art, what it does, how it helps people.
So I run a group in my town for artists and we did this project where we made these paper mache' masks and we painted them. We made them warrior masks. So if you had a mask? What would it look like? Do you have a totem (an animal spirit) to protect you? What is your mask's story?
Mine mask would be of a tiger with shiny amber eyes and long white fangs.
When I was training in martial arts (Taekwon-do) for the first two years, I noticed that experienced students had a black and white stencil of a tiger on the back of their uniforms. They were the strongest, fastest and most focused people I had ever seen. Our instructor told the class that to get a tiger we had to engage in 5 on 1 combat for 30 minutes and be standing at the end of it. After my first 2 years of lessons, I started taking the 5 on 1 test every six months. It took 3 1/2 years before I passed. I just kept trying until I passed. Over the 3 1/2 years of trying (that's 7 tests...I passed on lucky 7) I broke my toe, cracked a rib, got a concussion, and dislocated a finger during the multiple opponent fighting.
After I passed the test, my instructor asked me to attend a special class on Saturday as well as the Monday through Thursday classes I attended. Saturday from 5:00 to 6:30pm 8 students and I met at the dojo to train in advanced tactical combat. I learned unarmed defense against an opponent armed with a knife, a baseball bat, even a gun if the attacker was close enough to be disarmed. I trained in advanced tactical combat for the next 5 years. By the end of it, I could defend against 3 attackers when each was armed with a knife or a baseball bat.
My tiger has no fear. It is strong, fierce, aggressive, confident, and intimidating.
Wow Allen what strength and determination! Congratulations!
Milles my mask would be of a china doll! I feel fragile and my porcelain skin as thou it would look ceramic would be so fragile as I feel. I couldn't take 4 or so on like my friend Allen here! I would have a sweet soft shy side. But the other side would appear to be with giant smiles and gaiety as I have a great spence of humour! The would describe the serious and fun sides of my personality!
Sure wish I lived close enough to you to learn from your classes they would be so much fun!! I would love it!! I know I would learn so much from you!
But since you want my mask to be a warrior I guess I would choose Kung fu panda!! Love that movie and the morals and self doubt brought to hero!
Thanks for listening!
