Arrhythmias Support Group
Cardiac arrhythmia is a group of conditions in which the muscle contraction of the heart is irregular or is faster or slower than normal. Some arrhythmias are life-threatening medical emergencies that can cause cardiac arrest and sudden death. Others cause aggravating symptoms, such as an awareness of a different heart beat, or palpitation, which can be annoying.
Thing is the more you focus on it the more it bothers you. I could feel my heart beating coz I used to always think about it and focus on it...
Might sound cliche but stress directly impacts all this.
The more I used to worry and pay attention to all this the more I used to feel them.
I started ignoring the weird sensations coz there was nothing I could do about them and the doc wasn't concerned.
Today I do feel the symptoms every now and then but I'm happy as long as I don't get a shock from the machine.
Regarding the vitamins I'm not sure, I havet tried anything. Personally I dislike taking any meds...never had any in my life before this came up in ECG.
Ablation, if doc says u don't need then don't go. It's coz your problem is non life threatening I believe. Ablation is an attempt to solve the problem, however it may or may not, depends on each case. It cudnt in mine.
Also, whatever you stated was what you have but I'm more curious about why you have. Is it genetic in your case too?
Why did the old timers leave? Any idea?
Im a teetotaler, however I had wine in good amounts many years back. It did seem to have an increase in the palpitations, but that maybe because I didn't regularly drink. It's always mentioned that alcohol in excess has bad effect on arrhythmia, however I'm unsure about moderate amounts in regular. Better to confirm with your doc.
Apart from that I didn't notice any instant affect of any other food item.
Tea doesn't have any bad effects so that's what I rely on.
Anything specific you noticed?
How have you been doing now?
I drank caffeinated tea last week (unbeknownst to me) and it might have had an affect because I had a frightening episode about an hour or less later. Heart pounding like like it wanted to get out of my chest. Scares me and I think I panic making it worse. This is why Clonezepam helps. I've been noticing lately the episodes are happening more in the morning but I can't put my finger on what could be setting it off (except maybe the tea that day). Today I got up, had breakfast, took a few vitamins, did laundry and a little later it started.........this time it was just a heavy foggy feeling in my head as though I'm not thinking clearly, heavy feeling in body especially around my shoulders and neck and shallow breathing. Took bp and p which all turned out very good to normal. Maybe I need to see another doctor to get a second opinion. I'm so confused and tired of it all.
I believe many old timers left out of boredom and burnout. Over time you tend to see the same questions and issues repeatedly. People just naturally move on. I've seen the same at ICD Support Group and Pacemaker club where very few old timers remain. Of course the negative aspect is that a lot of erroneous information gets passed on to newbies by well meaning people who really are poorly informed themselves.
True it can be tiring going over through the same things again and again.
Sometimes it's not the disease though, its the ways in which it affects ur life's decisions that really calls for support.
Like I'm not sure what to make of the shocks I have started to receive in the last year. With most of my life still ahead of me, sometimes gets a bit daunting.
Because of the fear of shocks I'm scared of exerting my body and my mind to greater stress levels that are requisite for a budding career.
Haven't seen the ICD group, I think I will have a look at that one too.
True working out is a great stress buster and somehow brings positivity in the thought process.
However, docs have asked me to avoid exercise now.
Might have to resort to yoga or something now I guess.
Hope you doing great now :)
Also, what was the supplement you had? I would want to b on a lookout for such things.
