Cardiac arrhythmia is a group of conditions in which the muscle contraction of the heart is irregular or is faster or slower than normal. Some arrhythmias are life-threatening medical emergencies that can cause cardiac arrest and sudden death. Others cause aggravating symptoms, such as an awareness of a different heart beat, or palpitation, which can be annoying.

Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVC's) are heart beats that happen early in the ventricle (bottom chamber) Premature Atrial Contractions are the same except that the occur in the atrium.

Both are considered benign, meaning they are not harmful, and even people who do not have heart disease experience them once in awhile. They are or can be very annoying and disruptive or uncomfortable.
