Some arrhythmias are life-threatening medical emergencies that can cause cardiac arrest and sudden death. Others cause aggravating symptoms, such as an awareness of a different heart beat, or palpitation, which can be annoying.

HI, My Dad 88yrs old at one time had a missed heart beat, so they said, now they tell me he has a slow heart beat. Doctor took him off one tablet which was foe high blood pressure, he was on to many high blood pressure tablets. Dad has to have another ECG next week. I am so worried, dont know much about all this. Any HELP please tell me.

Some medications which target blood pressure also decrease heart rate. Managing blood pressure is a complex problem of many body systems so the doctors usually use "water pills" , kidney-targeted meds, preload/after load targeting meds, etc
Medications such as betablockers will decrease heart rate so the doctors will either decrease dose or take the patient off all together then they repeat ECG .
If your dad is feeling ok, no need to worry too much.
