Arnold-Chiari malformation, sometimes referred to as 'Chiari malformation' or ACM, is a congenital anomaly of the brain. Arnold-Chiari Malformation II occurs in almost all children born with both spina bifida and hydrocephalus, but ACM I is typically seen in children and adults without spina bifida.

I went to see the Neurologist today and it was a good visit. First off, I am truly happy with him. He was very thorough explaining everything including my Prolactinoma. He checked me out spoke to me about medicine and surgery. He says that it is wayyyyy to soon to be talking about surgery and that I should not let anyone touch my head. I have CM 1 so he wants to just monitor it for now. He also found out that my neck is not developed like everyone else. My neck does not have the C curve the bones grew one on top of the other and straight. Therefore causing lots of neck pain, on top of the symptoms from the Prolactinoma, CM, and my migraines. He gave me some medication, for the migraines and I am starting it tonight on it, it is called Topamax. It is a medication to prevent migraines so let's see what happens.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
About Topamax, it's been around quite awhile.
It does have a couple of stringent warnings. Do you have bone disease such as osteoporosis or osteopenia? If so, there is a black box warning about Topamax that you should not take it if you have jaw pain or bone disease. (as I do)
The other thing is to watch for any problems with your vision. We've heard stories about people losing their vision temporarily, but it took a few days for it to come back. And it could cause permanent blindness IN SOME people. So, watch for early signs of vision problems that are new.
If you can take it, good for you, it helps a lot of people. Just important to be well armed with all the information out there.
