If you can handle the worst that can happen, you can handle anything.
But remember this: there are a zillion rashes and bumps and aches and pains that humans get, that doctors don't have a clue about. They know this cream cures it, they don't know what it is. They don't have to know what it is.
You were taught in primary school what diseases to look out for, and your common sense will help you from now on. Is it spreading, is it sending dark red lines up my arm, (you can see them CLEARLY and they are blue/black) do I have a temperature, HOW IS MY PULSE?
Things that will kill you tend to affect your pulse. What's your resting pulse rate? What's your normal temperature? Check those. Use them to gauge your health against. If you haven't a temperature and you haven't a racing pulse (over 100) then you are fine, generally speaking.

I have to learn not to believe everything I can dream up.' It gets easier. The more times you don't die, the better. The more times you don't freak out, and don't die, the better.
So next time say 'hey ho, I may die but I'm not going to make a scene and look stupid' and then wait and see if you die. If you don't die, you've reinforced a failure to die and a proof that your imagination is not a guarantee of truth. If you do die, then you have no problem.
