I haven't been on in a while. Story goes....put on Prozac 20 mg flipped out after 3rd week put down to 10 mg for two days felt some relief. Still too much went on 5 mg for 2 weeks then try to up to 7.5 for one week then back to ten mg for two days and flipped out again. I have anxiety and this year agoraphobia. Zoloft year 1. Prozac for 8 years until may when agoraphobia set in. Celexa-3 weeks lost control of bowels. Put on lexapro 3 months still anxious Nd dr upped dose by 5 mg and my tongue swelled for 4 days. Switched immediately to the 20 mg of Prozac. I had great hope that this would be the miracle I have been needing to be normal for my family. The side effects were Awful but fought through each day. I also take klonopin half in am and half in pm. .50 total per day. On 12-15 I went to my therapist and in an instant she called my dr to get a emergency appointment. She felt that I needed to be admitted somewhere for help and so did I. Shaking crying uncontrollably nausea weak basically flipping out on 10 mg of Prozac. My dr saw me immediately within the hour and said that hospital will not take me because I am not suicidal and he also thought it would do more harm than good. He determined that I am a few of a select type of people that have opposite reaction to ssri's. I basically don't get the calming effect and go in the opposite direction. I am only to take klonopin now up to .5 inamorata and .5 in pm if needed. I have taken klonopin on and off for 8 years so my reactions now can't be attributed to that. I felt good being off meds for the first week or so and hadn't felt that well in a long time. So finally my question is....am I having withdrawal now? Waves of nausea,feeling up then down, stomach pain and shaky, dizzy, ringing in my ears occasionally. I have been like this for 8 days and want to know if anyone has experienced this. Google says flu like symptoms for up to 8 weeks after stopping ssri's. I welcome any opinions and suggestions and I hope this could help anybody else that may ever experience this.

I took Paxil for 12 years but it wasn't working as well for me the past 2 years so I began weaning it very slowly over 6 months. Once I got to doses of 20mg and below, I began to have what I'm convinced were withdrawal symptoms; severe crying, tingling in head, flu-like symptoms, etc... My MD added low dose Prozac which is supposed to help with weaning because it has a longer half - life. The Prozac made my anxiety worse- felt like I wanted to jump out of my skin. Also severe nausea; lost about 15 pounds in a month. So I was switched to Celexa and weaned off the Prozac about a month ago. I'm finally starting to feel better but am also in intensive therapy program to help me deal with all this. I do believe the side effects and withdrawal can be as bad if not worse then the original disease. I know it's frustrating to keep trying to find the med that works but I do believe there's something out there to help each of us; just takes time. I do recommend therapy while you go through this. Thank you hopeful! I have been in therapy since April 2012 and it is a great help for everything! I forgot about jumping out of my skin...that was there too when I was on Prozac I lost 15 lbs too and that wasn't a bad thing. So, celexa is helping your anxiety?

It's starting to help some; I also have depression which is starting to lift. My doctor added Neurontin to help with the anxiety and sleep also. it helps but makes me feel a little mentally slow and tired so I may not stay on it. Gonna give it another week,

I love positive stories. Are you not having gastrointestinal issues with the celexa?

None- Prozac was the worst for me- nausea, no appetite. Would sometimes vomit if I tried to eat. But we all react different to these meds.
