Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
My anxiety sometimes goes from one thing to another, most of it is to do with too much thinking. I imagine you know its irrational but it still doesn't stop it from happening, at least that what happens to me :)
Distraction maybe a technique you could try, try eating watching the TV if you don't already?
Or if your anxiety is that bad, eat a small amount of food and come back to it at 5min intervals, that way you might be able to convince yourself that nothing bad will happen to you.
Good luck, all the best.
if you want to talk about this more, send a message my way! i can completely relate. good luck :)
I've got myself stuck in a negative thought pattern that whenever i have a stomach ache, i will get diarrhea, which will in turn cause anxiety, and make the whole situation worse.
It could be wrong but anxiety such as ours (although I suffer from GAD) can manifest itself as physical symptoms.
I suppose the idea is to break those phobias perhaps by distraction so that can't generate those symptoms by thinking of them too much... difficult I know and my support goes out to you.
I still think TV a good distraction, or another way maybe to go out and eat somewhere where another activity takes place, something that invokes pleasure, like bowling, or even a restaurant or fast food chain.
i think alcohol is the worst thing, and wouldn't help you at all. if you've had a weak/bad stomach it cannot hold/soak up alcohol so you would get it again!
keep your food simple, pasta without heavy sauce, breads/toast with avocado, rice and vegies to get your stomach functioning.
i drink chamomile tea, very calming and good on the stomach.
peppermint is also good.
eat smaller portions but often..to get into a pattern and ease worry.
fresh food will mean less likely of worrying it's bad or rancid. (fresh break for example is quite safe).
