Don't worry.. its a normal feeling, i felt exactly the same way and still do. When i have horrible panic attacks i feel as if im taking a step backwards.
A few years back my anxiety got so bad that I couldn't leave my house. When I forced myself to leave because I absolutely needed food, I couldn't look people in the eye or even converse with them. The panic attacks got so bad once I thought I was having a heart attack and ems was called.
I'll be honest...diet and exercise helped a lot...but ultimately it was spiritual exploration that helped me overcome the anxiety.
Your post made me think that you might have had such a strong reaction because of additional anxiety over having panic attacks. I think I heard or read somewhere how we can make the panic attack worse by worrying about it. Fear feeds on itself, you know? Your status says it all.
I've been really getting into traditional chinese medicine and eastern philosophies which view anxiety not as a physical problem but as a thinking problem. I think our western culture trains us to think in ways that are unhealthy...

Looking at it this way empowers me to make changes and get rid of the anxiety of the moment. I'm an anxious person...I'm gonna react this way and so I learn to deal with it in a positive way.
You can too. I wouldn't worry about the physical reactions or be afraid of them. It's just your body's way of communicating what it needs.
