I just got prescribed vistaril for my anxiety. Does anyone know if it works? Side effects? I feel and I hope I'm wrong that it's just like those antidepressants that they first give you that are more like a placebo affect. I get very paranoid about what they prescribe to me. It took six years to finally get something for my anxiety so I was ready to lose hope and now I'm scared for this not to work and the little bit of hope I gained to be crushed.

I was prescribed vistaril while in the hospital two years ago. It didn't do a damn thing. Keep in mind though that everything he reacts differently to medication. I took seroquel for a year for my bipolar lad and it didn't not do anything at all but I know people who swear by it. Give it a try and see what happens

I am on 400mg of Vistaril & I haven't noticed a difference. I don't have any side effects, but as kisses stated- everyone reacts differently. I have been prescribed a lot and haven't found anything to really help the demons in my own head. Good luck.
