Edger
Mom got out of hospital a week ago. Drained excessive fluid out of leg. She has big wound on leg without top skin. Visiting nurse supposed to come out for first time today. I was going to call agency to give my phone number if mom didnt hear phone. But I was afraid that I would get them confused and mess up the nurse coming. And then she might not come until Monday. So I didnt call. Mom just called me. The nurse still is not there. Mom complain that nurse should at least call. Nurse supposed to come after 10 am. Mom called me 1/2 hour later. She said I need the nurse to do something with my leg - in a discusted voice. She is hard of hearing and doesnt always hear the phone. Even with hearing aids. Now I am waiting for the nurse too call me so I can tell her mom is home and go see her. But other people call our phone. So its busy till I get the person off the phone. I would have given them my phone number if i knew that the visit nurse would not come out untill she talks to patient on phone. But found that out this morning when called agency to ask when nurse is scheduled to see mom. She did see doctor on Wednesday at doctor office. Internest. So someone saw her leg couple of days ago.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

In my organization unless there was a really specific reason for a patient to be seen at a certain time they would be seen as a nurse planned her/his day throughout the community in other words people could be seen between 8am and 8 pm
The reason for this is so that a lot of time isn't spent backtracking and everyone wants to be seen at a specific time...It just wasn't possible
You could let the organization know that your mom is home and is hard of hearing so she may not hear the phone.... You could then hide a key for the nurse to use if she has trouble hearing a knock on the door so that the nurse can get in when she/he arrives.. Unless you want to get a lock for her that has a code on it
